The Ciné-Club Films Français with AAWE began in September 2022. The group meets from September through June, in three quarters.

We are a group of near native French speakers who want to expand our knowledge of French cinéma as well as polish our conversation skills. We watch a French film, exploring all genres, on streaming and meet once a week on Zoom for a lively and engaging discussion in French. Why on Zoom? Because some participants are living in London and New York.

We incorporate face to face get togethers for those living in Paris, an apéro to kick off each season and a lunch to end each season. In between, we may meet once in a while to see a French movie at the theater together followed by a discussion in a café.

The group guided by AAWE member Valérie Satterfield, who is French/American, born and raised in Paris. In 1981, she left France to attend (and graduate from) Brandeis University and ended up living in the US for 37 years. In her professional career she taught French to professionals in Boston, Washington D.C. and New York and eventually to school students in independent preparatory schools. She moved back to Paris in 2018.

Join AAWE for a family-friendly afternoon in support of Power Her Path, the FAWCO Target Project—bringing our community together for a meaningful cause in a beautiful setting.

FAWCO (the Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas) supports impactful global initiatives focused on education, human rights, environmental sustainability, and empowering women and girls worldwide. Through grassroots projects and international partnerships, FAWCO works to create lasting change in communities that need it most—and your participation helps make that possible.
Donations will specifically benefit Power Her Path—Empowering Trafficking Survivors & Vulnerable Migrants to Thrive, which is the FAWCO Target Project.

Pack your picnic, blanket, and park toys; gather your family and friends, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon filled with connection and purpose. Children are welcome and encouraged—there will be plenty of space to run and play. Food stands are also available within the park for those who prefer to purchase refreshments on-site.
This is a pay-what-you-can event, with all donations going directly to Power Her Path. Want to donate a different amount? Go to aawe.wildapricot.org/donate to donate the amount of your choice, and write 'FAWCO Target Project' in the comments box.

The AAWE Play Reading group will be meeting to read out loud "Oh, Mary" a dark comedy written by Cole Escola about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln's assassination. Those who sign up will receive a PDF of the script ahead of the reading, and roles will be chosen at the beginning of the meeting.

Calling All Musicians (pianists, vocalists, instrumentalists, percussionists, etc.) and Music Lovers. We share our music no matter what type of music we play. Everyone and every style is welcome.

For this June session, children are invited! We already have one child coming to play this time, so give your young musician the experience of playing for a welcoming group.

You haven’t played for the past 20 years? This is your chance to jump back in. We perform in a supportive AAWE environment. This June session welcomes all contributions - even playing one minute of a simple piece or scale is enough! For those interested, we'll be having dinner together after the performances, so once we arrive we'll be placing our orders for take-out (pizza? Indian? maybe something else as well).

You’re not a musician? Then come support us as an audience member – we would love to have you!

Please come at 6:30 to warm-up as we'll be starting to play promptly at 6:45. Yes, if necessary, you can come late and leave early but please be quiet about it.

ALL AAWE members are welcome to drop in between 10.30 and 12.30 at Columbus Café & Co. in Paris 1st.

The café is located at Rue Rivoli and Blvd de Sebastopol, Metro: Hotel de Ville (Line 1, exit 3 - rue de la Coutellerie ), facing the Tour St. Jacques. RER and M° Châtelet are not far. Vélib Saint-Denis-Rivoli.

At this café, guests place their order and pay at the counter before seating themselves, making it easy to avoid the usual confusion that can happen when settling group bills at the end.

Come as you are and for the time that fits in your Saturday morning schedule.

Participants sometimes decide to transition elsewhere for lunch. So, if you needed to sleep in or are running later on errands, you may not have missed your opportunity to connect with members.

Hike in St Cloud with FAWCO & AAWE on the Camino (13 Jun 2026)

FAWCO and AAWE on the Camino are teaming up to go on a hike thanks to the Clubs in Motion FAWCO initiative. The Clubs in Motion initiative aims to encourage members to stay physically fit while exercising with friends. So, let’s get moving and meet for a hike in St Cloud!

Suggested Donation: We invite participants to make a suggested donation of 10€, which will go toward supporting the FAWCO Target Project: Power Her Path: Empowering Trafficking Survivors & Vulnerable Migrants to Thrive (in Vietnam).

We will start the hike at the highest point of St Cloud in front of the “Garches Marnes La Coquette” station (Transilien Line L from St Lazare)” and end the hike at the T2 Station. Plan for 10Km/6 miles of walking.
Bring a picnic lunch, we will stop to take a break.

The more the merrier - non-AAWE guests are welcome to join us, but please register them so we can have an accurate count of participants.
