Circle Songs Paris with Kay Bourgine –
A Collaborative Vocal Improv Experience
Sunday, March 9th
15h-18h

Join us for an immersive and uplifting experience as AAWE collaborates with Circle Songs Paris to bring you a unique vocal improvisation workshop led by our very own Kay Bourgine! Bring your favorite tea or a treat you love to enjoy—we’ll share them together after the event!
Popularized by Bobby McFerrin, Circle Songs is a form of collective vocal improvisation that invites participants to create spontaneous, layered music in a welcoming and collaborative space. As Bobby McFerrin says, "Enter the circle empty, leave full." This workshop is an invitation to develop your skills in listening—both to yourself and to others—while having fun exploring the infinite possibilities of the human voice.
What to Expect
Playful vocal improvisation and spontaneous collective singing
Exercises in breath, rhythm, movement, and body-voice awareness
A space to express yourself freely and connect with others through sound
A joyful, relaxed atmosphere where all voices are welcome—no prior singing experience needed!
Celebrating International Women’s Day
In honor of International Women's Day (March 8th), we will gather on Sunday, March 9th at 15:00 to celebrate women’s voices—both figuratively and literally! Alongside our vocal improvisation session, we will enjoy tea, cookies, and a curated playlist featuring iconic female artists (think: Leslie Gore, Janis Joplin, Tracy Chapman, Nina Simone...), making space for connection, joy, and shared experience.
AAWE’s DEIB Connecting Through Wellness Initiative
This event is part of AAWE’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee's Connecting Through Wellness initiative. By engaging in collective vocal improvisation, we create an inclusive space where participants from all backgrounds can come together through music, breaking barriers and fostering a sense of belonging, self-expression, and mutual support. Circle Songs encourages deep listening and connection, making it a powerful wellness tool for community building and personal growth.
Come join us and embark on a journey of self-expression, creativity, and deep listening. Whether you’re new to vocal improvisation or a seasoned singer, this workshop promises to be a transformative and joyful experience. We can’t wait to sing with you!
Please contact Chloé, AAWE's DEIB Chair, if you have any questions.
