Dr. Aaron Hunter, a paleontologist himself, will be exploring Mary Anning's life and work in 19th century England. The presentation will dive into Anning's groundbreaking fossil discoveries along the Jurassic coast, which were crucial to understanding prehistoric marine life. It will examine the social context of her time and her interactions with contemporary scientists. The talk will also cover how modern palaeontologists have interpreted these ancient marine reptile fossils to reconstruct their lives and environments. Dr. Hunter, with his extensive academic background and expertise in palaeontology, geology, and related fields, brings a multidisciplinary perspective to this fascinating subject.
The lecture will be held at the very beautiful Théâtre le Ranelagh, classé Monument historique, by the French government, and built under King Louis XV in 1755.
This is an AAWE members only event. Places are limited to 30 seats, please RSVP by January 6th.
