This gathering will give us the opportunity to discuss a film from the period of 1930 – 1939 that we have seen on our own.

As part of Sylvie Koneski’s lecture on April 20, we narrowed our selection to four major films, thus allowing us to delve in depth into such questions as how women are portrayed; political, social, and romantic themes; structure; actors, and other aspects of the chosen films. All iconic and reflective of the angst of the period, the winners are

  • Pépé le Moko
  • La Règle du jeu
  • Quai des Brumes
  • La Grande illusion.

If you plan to attend the discussion, 1) sign up for it, and 2) view on your own one of the films!  We look forward to seeing you on the 24th.
